a symbiotic love story

a meditation

A question that we like to continuously come back to is: how can we think less like humans?

So, take a deep breath in, and out and just sense into the feeling of your body.
You can start by bringing your attention to the contours of your body, tracing them with your mind.

Thinking about the porosity of your skin, the spongy edges,
Then inside, towards your bones, their hardness,

And then, to the warmth of your saliva.

You open your boundaries and let something slide in, it becomes part of you.

Bring your attention to the middle of your stomach, to the home of your gut microbiome, where diverse microbial populations regulate your health, your brain function and your mood.
Now focus on your tongue, to its wetness, and to your skin, and consider all the microbial life present there, helping keep you alive.

We are here because of collaboration and trust

and microbes show us how it’s been done since the beginning of time.

food has and will always be a revolutionary tool;

food (and lack thereof) has always been a tool used in systems

of domination;

a severing of connection from ones food source is a colonial

mechanism used to strip agency, create insecurity and erase

cultural identity.

food is power.

everyone has the right to food sovereignty

food is justice
